The thing about our generation is that we have too much information at our
fingertips. On really pondering over the labels and snarky comments about our
generation I came to the conclusion that part of it is justified. Your parents are
not out to get you for being knowledgeable.
Before I actually dive deeper in this I have to clarify my intention is to not
put down the youth but to bring clarity between two generations. I will now
proceed to explain what all adults feel.
There is a time in your life when you can digest different information of
different depth because so far with what history has shown us, maturity comes
with age and that’s because the further you go in life, the more experiences you
have. You learn from experiences and acquire the ability to act in a better manner
the next time something similar is present before you.
Today, since we have everything on a platter for us, there is no scope to
learn. There is no need to rack our brains for a solution because we have
thousands of solutions available at the tap of a screen. Let’s also face the fact that
sometimes we are irresponsible with this plethora of information we have and
what I have said for isn’t something that doesn’t make sense to you.
Which is exactly why it is our job to be responsible with all the information
we have and make something out of it. Make something of ourselves and prove
that this overexposure does more good than it does bad. You may feel that the
term ‘overexposure’ would be in a negative connotation but the truth of it is that
it is the appropriate word and it’s on us to tell the world it doesn’t have to be in a
negative connotation. That overexposure is our strength but in order to make that
completely true we need to work in tandem, be diplomatic with our elders,
understand their perspective, be able to form our own unique opinion while
respecting others and understanding to distinguish between right and wrong.
Hopefully, we’re getting there.
I’d like to conclude with the thought that nothing is unnatural, the very fact that it
exists in a living form proves so because that is exactly how we define things that
are natural.
