People speak of life, they speak of art, of literature, of salvation and of God. They speak of destiny and tyranny and wars of old. Underlining every story with a moral. If you haven’t guessed already I’m speaking of proverbs and idioms and other preachy words that underline these epic tales, there is always something to learn from each and every one of them. But why is it underlying? Do we as individuals like being corrected by those around us? Centuries of examining this theory has brought researchers to one conclusion we don’t always like to do as we’re told. At least I don’t.

Rebellious teen is the loose term that most of us have become accustomed to. Starting from chores to studies to responsibilities. We’re constantly being lectured, being pushed around, being told what to do and what not to do. And I get it, it’s for my own good yada yada. If you’re an obedient teen, congratulations, but if you’re like me, welcome to your own personal hell. The juxtaposition when you advise your friends to retaliate but still listen to your mother. Where you encourage classmates to buck up and keep their grades and you lag behind. So, whom do you turn to?

Whom can you turn to? Despite knowing what’s right you do the wrong. It’s like your life is stuck in a One Republic song, on repeat and forever. Think of it like this, you start as an egg but you end up as ash, we all have room to grow, room to change and room to enhance during the transition but do we have room to learn from those, or are we bound by the shackles of perfection doomed to remain strugglers forever. The limits of my coffee addled candor knows no bounds. But does it mean that mean we cannot change? Or is struggling the only occupation that beats every other? We always give advice, but I think it’s time to take some now, especially from those who are trying just as much as you.

‘How To Live A Purposeful Life’, ‘The Guide To Self-Confidence’, ‘Growing Through Relationships’, ‘A Dummies Guide To Success’. Do these titles ring a bell?

Are the authors of such publications liars? Have they truly achieved a sense of satisfaction this early on in life? My guess is as good as yours. And people still buy these books. And not all of them find what they’re looking for. Is it because these books are fail proof or is it because their reach is subjective? I’m done asking the questions, I’d like to answer them.

These publications are not fail proof reason being, you’re your own person. You know that right? Didn’t you look through motivational quotes this morning? I think the authors are simply leading you in the right direction what happens from there, that is decided by you. Yes they achieved their goals and yes, I believe their intentions in writing these books were for the greater good of mankind. But if you pick up one and the journey still doesn’t happen your way, pick up right where you left off. Weave your tale with your own hands because what happens next is all you and only you. “You only have the power to change your own life. Start today.”
